Luke Takes on the London Marathon for Teenage Cancer Trust

Luke Tuffield, our Maidstone Branch Manager, and Mark Barrett, Branch Director at Fairalls Builders Merchants Godstone Taylors Hill are taking on the admirable challenge of running the London Marathon on 21st April this year in aid of Teenage Cancer Trust.

As a business, we are a longstanding supporter of Teenage Cancer Trust, and because of this, Luke and Mark were keen to commit to the 26.2 mile run as a personal challenge to contribute to the incredible work the charity does for young people.

Luke and Mark meet up before 6am twice a week for a training run and also do further weekly training runs individually.

Luke said: “This is a big challenge for both of us. 26.2 miles is actually quite a distance, particularly when we started out in June running just 5kms."

Mark said: “It is a big commitment, and often difficult to get out of bed on a dark winter’s morning to go running, but we both want to do something great for Teenage Cancer Trust and are 100% committed. Helping to raise funds to support young people aged 13-24 diagnosed with cancer is a motivation like no other!”

Teenage Cancer Trust is a charity dedicated to helping children and their families who are confronted with childhood cancer. Every day, seven young people aged 13-24 hear the words “you have cancer”. They will each need specialised nursing care and support to get them through it. The charity is the only one in the UK dedicated to meeting this vital need.
